We caught up with our Senior Designer, Valeria Zambon, to give you an insider's look at the design and inspiration behind our newest shape.
Was there a particular story or theme that influenced the bag’s creation?
The Georgia Tote draws its inspiration from the timeless elegance of Georgian architecture, which is deeply woven into the fabric of our hometown, Edinburgh. In particular, the bag reflects the harmony, symmetry and balance found in the Ionic columns that define many of our most iconic buildings. Much like these classical architectural elements, the Georgia Tote embodies a sense of understated luxury and precision, blending tradition with contemporary style.
What’s Your Favourite Feature of the Bag?
One of the standout features of the Georgia Tote is its thoughtfully designed interior, which includes three spacious compartments, one of which is securely zipped to keep your valuables safe. The largest size can fit a small laptop which was important to us, as we really wanted to design this new family of sizes to be very practical.
The spacious interior not only enhances the bag’s functionality but also reflects our commitment to practical luxury, allowing you to stay organised while looking and feeling your best. It’s the perfect combination of form and function, ideal for day-to-day use. The smallest size is also perfect for special occasions!
Can you tell us about the materials and craftsmanship behind this piece?
The bag is crafted by hand in small quantities from premium Baltic leather, known for its small-grain texture and supple softness, which adds a tactile richness to the design. This leather is responsibly sourced and has a Gold LWG (Leather Working Group) rating, ensuring that environmental standards are upheld in its production.
Were There Any Challenges You Faced While Designing This Bag?
Yes, of course! We actually changed the reinforcement in the design a few times because we didn’t want the bag to be too structured, but we also didn’t want it to lose its shape and collapse. Finding the right balance took some trial and error.
Do you have tips on how to style this bag?
The Georgia family is designed to be incredibly versatile. Its clean lines and sophisticated profile make it the perfect companion for both professional settings and casual outings.
For daytime chic, I’d go for the Georgia Maxi Tote and pair it with tailored trousers, a crisp white blouse, and loafers or low-heeled boots.
For the weekend, I’d go for the Georgia Midi Tote with a soft knit, a pair of jeans and trainers.
For a polished evening look, the Georgia Mini is the one; the understated elegance pairs perfectly with a minimalist dress and gold jewellery.
